Kumiho in Pathfinder
All kumiho are humanoids with the kumiho and shapechanger subtypes. They have the following racial traits.
Ability Scores: Kumiho are quick and socially adept, but tend to be physically weak. They have the following ability score adjustments: +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, -2 Strength.
Size: Kumiho are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Speed: Kumiho have a base speed of 30 feet.
Senses: Kumiho have low-light vision (they can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light).
Special Abilities:
- Change Shape: A kumiho can assume the form of any small or medium humanoid, as the spell alter self, save that there is no limit to how long the kumiho can retain its shape, and the kumiho may choose to become a fox rather than a humanoid. Any shape the kumiho acquires retains some physical aspect of a fox; be it fox-like ears, fur, a tail, or any other fox-like feature. The feature a kumiho retains is chosen at character creation, and cannot be changed later.
- Deceptive: Kumiho receive a +2 racial bonus on Bluff checks.
Languages: Kumiho begin play speaking Tien and Senzar. Kitsune with high Intelligence scores can choose bonus languages from the following: any human tongue, Aklo, Celestial, Elven, Gnome, Nagaji, Samsaran, Sylvan, Tengu, and Wayang.
Kumiho are a race of shapechanging fox folk, reviled as monsters throughout Golarion due to their murderous tendencies and lack of empathy.
Physical Description: A kumiho’s natural appearance is that of a nine-tailed fox, however they tend to prefer humanoid shapes, especially those of lithe and beautiful young people. In all forms their eyes range from golden yellows to auburns.
Society: Kumiho have little in the way of society, because they are born of foxes that live to extreme old age and are exposed to raw mana. Most kumiho live their entire lives without meeting another kumiho, but they may integrate themselves within another society.
Relations: Though they are rare and little known, kumiho are considered monsters by most civilized races. This is due to their favored diet; fresh liver from a recently slain humanoid. Most kumiho are cruel and murderous, caring little for the lives of others and relishing the terror of their victims.
Alignment and Religion: Kumiho tend to be evil. There is no definitive shared religion among kumiho, but many worship Urgathoa.
Adventurers: Kumiho who do not haunt a particular region often wander in search of power or new and interesting prey.
